A&A Holz Tailors Kitchens To The Most Extraordinary

When you think about building kitchen cabinets for your home, there are many things to discuss. The question is: How important is kitchen cabinets to a house? Digging deeper into this topic, we should take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of these kitchen cabinets as well as how to design these cabinets to fit in with their local distinctive structure (which I have mentioned the reason why local distinctive structure is important in my first article: Value your house by investing in the kitchen).

In Canada market, base on location of production, kitchen cabinets are categorized into three lines: European imported products, Chinese imported products, and local custom products.
The cabinets which are imported from Europe and China usually are prefabricated cabinets. Local products are used as semi-custom cabinets or custom cabinets.
When talking about Europe, people will think of Italian fashion or France romance or German rigor. Because of geographical feature and cultural heritage, the European cabinets – as a trendsetter -
lead the trend from color theme to new innovations of hard-wares. In addition, due to shortages of timber resource, European has been recycling waste into new materials and using sustainability marketing to promote the products on market. Moreover, kitchen cabinets are used as furniture in Europe. They can be removed easily when people sell their houses. Therefore, European keeps the concept of kitchen cabinet’s design simple while using light and compact materials. It helps installation process speeding up. However, these products are very easy to be standardized and duplicated. Normally, they are classified as prefabricated cabinets in the industry.
Coincidentally, kitchen and bathroom cabinets are also treated as furniture in China. Chinese developers provide unfurnished houses to the end consumers. Based on this consumption behaviors, prefabricated cabinets are popular in China market. On the other hand, in the past 20 years, China has become the top nation in terms of manufacturing output. From mechanized equipment investment to cost management, Chinese manufactures can quickly apply European technology into production. They provide high volume of products with low price to create a market of cost effectiveness.
The power of China manufactures has threatened American kitchen cabinet makers. On March 6, 2019, The American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance, consisting of 27 United States domestic producers,
(Petitioner), filed anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) petitions against Wooden Cabinets and Vanities (“Wood Cabinets”) from China. The alliance claimed that the China’s imported cabinets have increased more than 75%, threatening the US $9.5 billion cabinet industry.
In different circumstances, there is brotherhood between Canada and the US. They have similar consumption behaviors. Only completed houses are sold on the market. The cabinetry is treated as
part of house. Accordingly, building unique and beautiful houses is the key consideration for developers. Furthermore, local kitchen cabinet makers customize cabinets based on the needs of the house. Due to different room types, the standardized kitchen cabinet models cannot 100% meet this requirement. Most people solve this problem by using adjustment filler to close the gap. (* Both the European and Chinese prefabricated cabinets will encounter this problem. Sometimes, a bad closing gap layer will directly affect the appearance of the kitchen.) Therefore, local people with certain budget still prefer customize their kitchen cabinets.
